Charlie Becker is a Cincinnati-born artist and 14 year resident of New York City who is comfortable working in various mediums including graphic design, furniture design, jewelry design and sculpture. He also creates elaborate installations for Nike that showcase Nike's newest limited edition collections at the most exclusive sneaker boutiques in New York City. Recreationally, Becker is a skater turned soccer enthusiast who plays with Chinatown Soccer Club, a crew of artists, photographers, skaters and designers who are positioning CSC as a highly sought after brand. His work often combines the elements of realism and absurdity. As a sculptor, he is in high demand. Many two-dimensional artists have called upon Becker to have their flat graphics, illustrations, sketches and paintings realised in 3-D. His personal work has been shown in NYC, San Francisco, and LA, and has found mention in Mass Appeal, Spin, Paper, Complex, XLR8R, ReadyMade, Contempory, ID Magazine, and others. His pieces have shown repeatedly at the ZieherSmith Gallery in Chelsea, in several of the Rich Jacobs-curated "Move" shows, and Jordin Isip/Rodger Stevens' shows at the Front Room in Williamsburg. He was chosen for the Select III WPA/C 2005 Art Auction at the Corcoran Gallery, and was a finalist in the Altoids Living Spaces Competition in 2006. He has also sculpted the King of NYC action figure for Swishtoys and created limited edition mini-busts of Charles and Ray Eames in collaboration with Butter (NYC), which were seen at alife's holiday store at New York's Deitch Projects and the Roberts and Tilton gallery in LA. Faile's Bunny Boy is available at Wooster Collective, Kid Robot and many other locations where collectible toys are sold. He has worked as a designer for major record labels for 14 years, including a stint as Art Director for Atlantic and creator of the Lava Records logo and the new Atlantic Records logo. His most recent work includes doing design work for Taylor Hicks and Fantasia's recently released albums for J Records.
