About

Charlie Becker is a Los Angeles based artist and designer whose body of work carries across a variety of media.  Sculpture, jewelry design, furniture and graphic design are all familiar territory for him. His ability to collaborate with and bring other fine artists’ vision to life puts Charlie in high demand as the sculptor to have 2-D flat graphics, illustrations, sketches and paintings become realized in 3-D.

His personal work, often combining elements of realism and absurdity, has shown in NYC, San Francisco, DC, London and LA, and has found mention in Mass Appeal, Spin, Paper, Complex, XLR8R, ReadyMade, Contempory, ID Magazine, and others. His pieces have shown repeatedly at the ZieherSmith Gallery in Chelsea, in several of the Rich Jacobs curated “Move” shows, and Jordin Isip/Rodger Stevens’ collaboratively curated shows. He was chosen for the Select III WPA/C 2005 Art Auction at the Corcoran Gallery and was a finalist in the Altoids Living Spaces Competition in 2006.

His elaborate installations showcasing Nike’s newest limited edition collections have graced cities across the US.

He sculpted the King of NYC action figure for Swishtoys and created limited edition mini-busts of Charles and Ray Eames in collaboration with Butter (NYC). His Eames mini-busts were seen at ALIFE’s holiday store at New York’s Deitch Projects and the Roberts and Tilton gallery in LA. He is a frequent collaborator of NY artist collective, Faile, with whom his work has been seen around the world.

As an art director, Becker has worked for major record labels for 12 years.  During his time at Atlantic and Lava Records he was responsible for both labels’ re-branding efforts.

Recreationally, Charlie is a skateboarder and soccer enthusiast. His love for soccer led him to cofound  the  Chinatown Soccer Club; a crew of artists, photographers, skaters and designers who are positioning CSC as a highly sought after brand.

After living in New York City for 15 years, Charlie Becker and his family are currently living in Los Angeles where he is the Associate Creative Director for Clae shoes.
