I was recently asked by Seth and Elisa Carmichael to help bring the work of Aakash Nihalani off the street and into a gallery setting. His work primarily consists of public installations using paper artists tape. With this show he really wanted to step it up and try some new ways of expressing his ideas. My task was to help make that happen.
We took 4 of his designs, and had them water jet cut in 1/4″ aircraft grade aluminum, then powder-coated in black. They will be available in his signature fluorescent colors as well. He still wanted an element of his tape pieces in the show, so we crumpled up entire rolls of his tape, then coated them in UV protective resin for permanence.
